Sounds of a Vacation

Tell a story using nothing but sound effects. There can be no verbal communication, only sound effects. Use at least five different sounds that you find online. The story can be no longer than 90 seconds.”

For this assignment I chose to make it all about a trip to the beach. I found all of these sounds on the internet and then screen recorded them on my iPhone. After I did that I airdropped them to my Mac. When I finally got them all on to my Mac I opened QuickTime Player to download all of the screen recordings as just audio. This then allowed me to upload all of the sounds to iMovie. Once I got them on to that program I began sorting the sounds in the order that I desired them to be. When I completed the organizing side of things I started fading the sounds into each other. When I decided I was happy with all of the sounds I downloaded the “movie” as just audio. I then uploaded it to SoundCloud.

I am going to explain what all of the sounds are supposed to represent starting at the beginning. To start off the trip I put a sound bite of an airplane taking off. This was supposed to signify their flight taking off with them to go to the beach. That was the followed up by the well known seat belt beep on an airplane. After that I put in the sound of a jet landing representing the plane arriving at the airport. I then I put in the famous whistle to get the attention of a taxi driver. After that I put a door shutting sound in to represent them getting in the car. I then put the noise that you would hear if you were traveling in a car. I followed that up with the sound of opening a door with keys. This was to represent you getting to their hotel room. I then put in sounds of walking. I started off with just the sound of someone walking on flooring. I then put in the sound to represent walking on sand. After that I put in a sound of seagulls and the ocean. That was to represent the arrival to the beach. I concluded it with the sound of a can opening. This was to signify relaxation and that they were drinking a beer.

I had a great time with this assignment. I love the beach so that helped make the experience even better. The only difficulty I had with this assignment was getting the screen recordings downloaded to just audio. That step took a lot of time to complete.
